Our Staff

The staff at Diablo is dedicated to bringing excellence, safety, and fun to the field of gymnastics. Each of our coaches are interested in building strong bodies and strong minds; they know they has a successful class when they have sweaty smiling kids. Here are the bios for our full-time coaches.

Bonnie Schreiner

Bonnie Schriener has been teaching at Diablo since 2002 in our kindergym, camp, girl's recreation, and team programs. She trained at Cuyamaca YMCA in San Diego and competed for twelve years through USAG Level 10. Bonnie placed 3rd AA at Level 9 Regional championships. Her favorite event to compete was beam, which is now her favorite event to coach..

Quick Facts: Bonnie lives in Pittsburg with her husband Doug, son Parker and dog Lou. She likes boating, wakeboarding, camping riding dirt bikes and cleaning. Her favorite foods are cereal. Her favorite color is green.


Birthday: May 28.

Kirsten Brown

Kirsten Brown first came to Diablo's recreation program as a student in 1996. She started teaching here in 1999 and currently teaches in our Kindergym program and works in the front office.

Quick Facts: Kirsten has a BA in English with an emphasis in Secondary Teaching Preparation and a minor in Psychology from Sonoma State University. She plans to Graduate in June 2008 with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University. Her favorite foods are chocolate and coconut shrimp. Kirsten enjoys reading, Alpha Gamma Delta and concerts in her spare time. Her favorite color is purple. She lives in Danville with her family and two kittens. 

Birthday: July 3.
Heather Silvers

Heather Silvers started teaching at Diablo in 2007. She competed for eight years and was active in the sport for more than 14 years. Heather is First Aid certified.

Quick Facts: Heather lives in danville with her parents and two brothers.  Her favorite event is beam.  She ejoys shopping, dancing and playing the guitart.  Heather's favorite food is Pizza and her favorite color is red.


Birthday: May 19th

Lindsay Faulkner

Lindsay Faulkner has been in gymnastics at Diablo Gymnastics School since she was seven years old. She started coaching for us in 1999, and has taught kindergym, girls, boys, tumbling, and team. Lindsay competed for three years at Las Lomas High School, where she was also an athletic trainer. She is Safety certified and is also Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certified.

Quick Facts: Lindsay lives in Antioch with her two cats Megan and Emily.  Her favorite food is fettuccini alfredo, and her favorite color is pink. She enjoys reading, playing basketball and ballet.  She cheered for Las Lomas and DVC. Lindsay has a knack for learning her student's middle names. 

Birthday: January 19.
Sue Gross

Sue Gross started gymnastics when she was in the 8th grade. She competed in junior high, high school, and college, and finished at the Advanced level in 1974. Sue has been at Diablo since 1985! She is the director of our Kindergym program and also can be found every afternoon in the front office. Sue has a California teaching credential in Physical Education. She and Michelle were kinder (KAT) certified in the first ever USAG class in New Orleans.

Quick Facts: Sue has been married for thirty years, and lives in San Ramon with her husband, Mike. They have two sons. Sue first came to Diablo when her son enrolled in kindergym classes. Sue's favorite color is blue, and her favorite foods are "anything sweet!" Her favorite event is the Trapeze. She enjoys sewing, crafts, baking and piano. 


Birthday: August 27.

Michelle Klimesh

Michelle Klimesh, Diablo's owner, started gymnastics at Diablo in the summer of 1969. She competed until she was 22 years old through Class II for Jim Gault, Diablo's founder. Michelle won state championships on beam, floor, and AA. Her favorite event is beam. She started teaching at Diablo in 1972, and has coached kindergym, girls, boys, tumbling, dance, and team. She is a USAG Professional Development Program Trainer. Michelle is now responsible for Diablo's finances, schedules, curriculum development, and staff training. Her most recent design project was our new parent participation class for one-year-olds.

Quick Facts: Michelle loves reading, Scrabble and Tetris. She was the national champion and held the world record in the 56 kilo class in women's powerlifting in 1979. Michelle was a professional dancer for seven years. Her favorite food is anything that someone else cooks.


Birthday: November 28.

Karlai Pelazzari

Karlai Pelazzari has been at Diablo since 1987. She is the director of our new gymnastics camp program, and also works in the kindergym, girls recreation program, and front office. Karlai's is the former owner of Diablo Gymnastics of Pleasanton. Her favorite event is to preform is floor and her favorite event to teach is bars.

Quick Facts: Karlai won the teenage national powerlifting championships in 1982. She has three children and lives with her husband Chuck in Pleasanton. Karlai loves mexican food; she makes mean enchiladas. Her favorite colors are teal and purple. Karlai likes to go camping and boating and watching football. Birthday: January 8
Kristin Schrader

Kristin Shawler came on board as Diablo’s Head Coach and Development Program Director in October, 2004. Originally from Madison, WI, Kristin has been involved in dance and choreography for most of her life, which led to her involvement in gymnastics. She moved to the Chicago area while in high school, where she danced with Gus Giordano, Rory Foster, and choreographed and performed with a small touring company. She earned her degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, designing a concentration in The Physiologic and Cultural Aspects of Human Movement and Dance. She became involved in gymnastics as a choreographer and dance coach while a student at Stanford, but quickly fell in love with the sport and expanded to coaching all events and levels, from Kinder through Elite. Kristin is also a Level 10 rated judge and feels her experience on “the other side of the fence” makes her a better educated coach. Her goal and philosophy of coaching is to challenge, motivate, and celebrate the successes of each of her student athletes, bringing out the best in their gymnastics, and teaching valuable lessons to enrich their lives.

Kristin and her family live in Pleasanton. Her son, Calvin, was born shortly after she joined Diablo and has since beome an honorary member of Diablo's team staff.  Kristin’s history includes careers in Physical Therapy, Corporate Fitness, High-Tech Product Management, and now Motherhood, but she has always managed to incorporate gymnastics and dance into her life.

Diana Kottke

Diana Silva (now Kottke) first came to Diablo Gymnastics School when she was one week old. Diana competed for two years with the gymnastics team at Los Lomas High School, where she was also a cheerleader for four years. She started teaching classes for us in 1999. Diana's favorite event is balance beam. She currently teaches several of our Cheerleading classes and works in our back office on the database software. Diana is first aid certified.

Diana lives in San Ramon with her husband, Andrew. She has ten years of experience in Bay Area musical theater productions, and enjoys dancing, working at the Renaissance Faire, and volunteering as a fifth-grade camp counselor. She also runs DK Books out of Diablo's pro-shop. Diana's favorite food is Benihana shrimp, and her favorite color is pink.


Birthday: April 4th.

Jaime Wong

Jaime Silva (now Wong) started bouncing on trampoline at Diablo Gymnastics School when she was eight days old! Her coaches here were Roy Barskey and Mary Miller. Jaime started teaching at Diablo in 1997 in our kindergym, girls, and dance classes. She is currently Diablo's marketing coordinator and is executive assistant to the president of Diablo (her mom).

Quick Facts: Jaime lives in Danville with her husband Jason and their daughters Grace and Kaylie. Jaime's favorite food is sushi and favorite color is aqua. She enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, reading and shopping. She won the award for most donations earned at Diablo's 1992 cartwheel-a-thon with a total of $465. Jaime's favorite event is floor.


Birthday: September 7

Mia Herman

Mia first started at Diablo in 1994, where she competed through level 9.  She currently teaches in our Recreation program. 

Her Favorite event is floor.


Quick Facts:  Mia lives in Alamo with her parents and sister.  She loves chocolate and the color purple.  In her free time, Mia enjoys diving and watching movies.

Alex Ireland

Patti Vincent

Miss Patti first came to Diablo Gymnastics as a client in 1998.  She started teaching in the kindergym program in 2000.  Her Favorite Events are Bars and Trampoline.  Ms. Patti holds a certification as a pre-school teacher.


Quick Facts- Miss Patti lives in San Ramon with her husband and 5 children, which includes TWO sets of twins! Her favorite food is mexican or chinese.  Her favorite colors are pink and yellow. Miss PAtti enjoys water skiing, snow mobiling, quading and hanging out with her family in her free time.


Birthday: June 8th

Desire Vincent

Desire Vincent began taking classes at Diablo in 1998.  She started coaching in our Recreation, Kindergym and Birthday programs in 2006.  Desire also help out with Diablo's summer camps.  She loves working with children (she has 4 siblings) and likes to keep in shape by coaching. 


Quick Facts:  Desire lives in San Ramon with her parents and four siblings Donny, Shaina, Chad and Chelsea.  Her favorite event is vault.  She loves to eat homemade hamburgers with fries and a milkshake.  Her favorite color is red.  In her free time, Desire enjoys wakeboarding, dirtbiking, snowmobiling, jumping on the trampoline and listening to music.


Birthday: August 30th   

Deborah Ratcliff

Deborah has had children at Diablo Gymnastics since 2001.  She started working in the office in 2007.  Deborah participated in her high school's gymnastics program.  Her daughter Jordan is currently a member of Diablo's competitive team.


Quick Facts: Deborah lives in San Ramon with her husband and two daughters.  Her favorite event is bars.  She loves to eat artichokes.  Her favorite color is periwinkle.  In her free time, Deborah likes making jewelry, dog grooming and painting.


Birthday: October 21st

Monica Cox

Monica Cox currently coaches in our Kindergym program.  She participated in gymnastics for 9 years.  She has judged levels 5-7 for 4 years. Monica is safety, first-aid and CPR certified.  She has a B.A. in Journalism and Physical Education.


Quick facts:  Monica lives in Walnut Creek with her husband and two children, Cami and Jake.  Her favorite even is floor.  She enjoys eating Italian and Mexican Food.  Her favorite colors are blue and pink.  She spends her free time shopping, vacationing and taking pictures of her children.

Jerry Wehry

Jerry Wehry started working at Diablo Gymnastics in September of 2007.  He joins us with 11 years of coaching experience under his belt.  Jerry coaches in the Kindergym, Recreation, Tumbling and Team programs.  He is safety certified and a USAG member. 


Quick Facts:  Jerry lives in Alameda.  He enjoys eating Tuna Helper.  Jerry's favorite events are:  All of them!  His favorite color is blue.  When he is not at work, Jerry enjoys collecting toy figures, playing baseball and acting.


Birthday: June 18th

Earl Wheeler

Earl Wheeler has been at Diablo since 2007.  He coaches in our Developmental, Boy's Recreation and Team programs.  He brings over 24 years of gymnastics experience with him!  Earl is safety certified.


Quick facts: Earl lives in Vallejo.  His favorite events are still rings and men's high bar.  Earl's favorite foods are meatloaf, lasagna and spaghetti.  His favorite colors are red and gold.  He enjoys fishing, playing basketball and listening to R&B and Jazz music.


Birthday: February 23rd

Chelsea Faulkner

Chelsea Faulkner started coaching at Diablo in 2007.  She was a gymnast for 7 1/2 year and competed up to level 5.  Chelsea coaches in our Recreation and Kindergym programs.  She is safety certified.


Quick facts:  Chelsea lives in Walnut Creek with her dad and granny.  She Loves to eat pasta!  Her favorite colors are purple and green.  Her favorite gymnastics event is vault.  In her spare time, Chelsea enjoys skateboarding.

Erin Thompson

Erin first joined Diablo in 1997, where she competed through level 6.  She currently teaches in our Kindergym and Recreation Programs.  Her Favorite event to compete is floor, while her favorite event to coach is bars.


Quick Facts: Erin lives in Pleasanton with her parents, brother, and dogs.  Her favorite food is pizza and she loves the color blue.  When she is not coaching, Erin enjoys diving.

Amy MacIntire

Samantha Scranton

Ashlyn Aneloski

Ashlyn started at Diablo when she was 5 years old. She worked her way up to Level 7 team as well as coaching for fives years before leaving for college.

Ashlyn received her Bachelors of Science in Health Education, with an option in Community Health, from the University of Arizona. She is a Certified Fitness Trainer through the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. She ran the Arizona Bone Builders Physical Activity Program while finishing her degree at UofA. She has spent the last five years building and developing fitness and nutrition programs for her clients. Ashlyn has been involved in different sports and has always been interested in nutrition, and how food affects the body. We are so happy that she decided to come back to the Bay Area and rejoin the Diablo Team!
